    "Out of the Blue" is a very well equipped Dale Nelson 38', with the ability to cope with most sea conditions.   • Accommodation

    7 berths in four cabins. The interior of the vessel is finished in limed oak with alcantara head linings and cream curtains. The upholstery is finished in dark blue. Hot and cold water at all 3 basins & Eberspatcher heating throughout.

    The Fore Cabin has two single berths port and starboard, which can be made into a double with the addition of an infill.

    The Forward Heads has moulded surfaces, which are easy to keep clean, and is fitted with a manual sea toilet, shower and washbasin with mixer tap with hot and cold pressurised water supply.

    Lower Saloon with dinette with U-shaped seating to port, which with the table lowered, converts to a double berth. Opposite is the Galley area with timber slatted boarding to coachroof side. The galley worktop is “Wilsonart” with a moulded corian sink and raised fiddle. Colour : Beige Tempest. SMEV two burner gas cooker with oven and grill. 65 litre capacity refrigerator.

    The Wheelhouse With Helm and Navigators seats port and starboard. Foot rests for both seats. Helm to port with comprehensive instrumentation and engine controls to hand. L shaped settee / berth to port, with stowage under. Second fridge under pilot seat.

    Aft Cabin with massive 7ft. long double berth to starboard. Individual reading lights above berth. To port, aft is the dressing table with drawer and locker beneath. Fitted with a manual sea toilet, shower and wash basin with mixer tap with hot and cold pressurised water supply.

    On deck. Outside helm position to port with cushioned helmsman’s seat with back and armrests, firmly fixed to the spacious aft laid teak deck. Cushions across full width of stern. Large teak slatted bathing platform on stern with fold down swim ladder. Stainless steel boarding ladder with teak treads. Sprint 1500 electric anchor winch with foot controls at winch and remote operation from outside helm position.

  • Construction

    Modern Nelson round bilge hull designed by Arthur Mursell of TT boat designs, and moulded by Dale Sailing to Lloyds requirements. The hand laid up GRP is rugged with substantial stiffening frames and longitudinals. Hull colour: Oxford Blue. Main deck and superstructure are also all GRP construction. Colour: White. Teak aft and side decks. Teak badging to hull. This Nelson 38 is one of the very few built to MCA regulations.

    Electrics

    Engine belt driven alternators charging one bank of two 12v. 105Ah batteries and one bank of two 12v. 115Ah batteries. Newmar 40 Amp battery charger. Shore power with outlets in all cabins and 240v. immersion heater in calorifier. Full navigation lights, including anchor light. Comprehensive interior cabin lighting 3 X Pantograph windscreen wipers.

    Engines

    Twin Volvo TAMD 63P 370hp each. Diesel engines with 220A 2:1 reduction gearboxes coupled to conventional shaft drive with bronze propellers. HMI underwater (as well as rear side) exhausts are fitted, plus HMI exhaust alerts. The engines have run approx 1500 hours and have been serviced regularly. Full engine room insulation. Hydraulic steering. The Owner reports a maximum speed of 25 knots @ 2800 RPM and a cruising speed of 22 knots @ 2500 RPM. 2 x 650 litre fuel tanks are laid in the keel and there are fuel tank level monitoring equipment. Automatic Seafire fire extinguishing system in engine room.

    Deck Equipment

    Sprint 1500 electric anchor windlass. 20 Kg. Bruce anchor with 50m. Calibrated 9.8mm galvanised chain. “Weaver” snap davits. Stainless steel bow roller. Stainless steel mooring bollards and cleats. Warps and fenders.
